Bruno's day in the sun

Mom lets Bruno out on the porch most every day, to give him a break from the basement. Because of a little sick kitten, Brunos time in the basement is restricted for the time being. So, she has made a point to give some time out of his cage and in the sunshine. Bruno doesnt get along with us cats, so Mom cant even let him upstairs. He, unfortunately, appears to be a "one cat, house cat". I hope that he finds a good home soon.

Socks

...and the kittens

For the past few days Mom has been caring for two kittens. They are kinda sick, with a cold and eye infections. Mom doesnt have any pictures for that reason. One of the little ones, Clarence, went with his new Mom on Wednesday. But Jim, is still to sick, so instead of going to his new home, Mom took him to the vet instead. Hopefully, he will be doing better soon and can go meet up with Clarence.

Clarence, the larger of the two, went home with his new “Mom”. Clarence is a beautiful, solid black, approximately 6 month old kitten. He is cross-eyed…hence the name Clarence. (after Clarence the cross-eyed Lion) But little Jim (Mom had an idea for another name for him, but forgot it when she got todays migraine), became sick just before he was to be picked up, so Mom took him to the vet instead. He is now on anti-biotics and Mom said that he is doing a little better now. We will have him for a few more days, untill he is doing better. But because Jim is still not well and Mom can not bring him upstairs, and she has not had any instance to take pictures. Mom can not take any chances with us cats so the kitten has to be kept away from us. Mom says that we cant go down-stairs, though we try. She does go down to visit with Jim several times a day, to check on him and also to spend some “play-time” with him. He is about 6 to 9 weeks old and very playfull. I miss visiting the basement, but Mom says that she doesnt want us to get sick, so we cant go.

Mom says that she wants to get pictures of Jim, but he is to sick to come upstairs for his pictures. Maybe before he leaves she will get some pictures.

Go Check out what these two kitties got into. (Make sure your Humans arnt drinking anything, Mom had soda come out her nose)

Patches has a new home too!

Mom brought a little girl kitty in yesterday morning. I visited as usual and she seemed nice but a little scared. Yesterday afternoon, some nice people came and they took Patches with them. Mom said that they are her new Humans. I am so happy Mom can help kittys get new furr-ever homes. Mom says that "Christmas" is coming and that all good kitties need a nice home for "Christmas"

Mom really likes helping these kitties, she says that it is something speicial and that she was able to help us, so she wants to help other kitties too.

It is so hard to believe that it was only a year ago that Abby and Blackie came to live with us. Blackie loves the big HuMan. Abby loves Mom but is sometimes to scared and runs away when Mom is trying to help her.Mom says that is ok, and she thinks that Abby will one day come to her and let her nice her.

I am so happy that Patches has a furr-ever home. It makes Mom happy too, that is the greatest part!

Oh Mom?!?

yup she did it again...she brought home kittens. Thankfully they did stay. In fact, yesterday, mom brought the kittens and then a lady came and took one of them with her. This is a picture of the lady and her kitten.

Later yesterday, the 2 other kittens went "home" Mom said. Mom said that she was helping the kittens to find a new home. Mom is really nice. Blackie and Socks were not at all pleased about the kittens, but they are happy now. I just hid under the bed and watched what was going on.

MiMi

Mom brought MiMi a couple days ago. MiMi is really shy and is scared of other cats. Mom says it is probably because other cats hurt MiMi. MiMi has some cuts and scabs on her face, Mom says it makes her sad, because "MiMi is such a sweet girl".

But the great news is that MiMi will be going to her Fur-ever home in a few days! I am so happy for MiMi, even if she doesnt like to talk with us. Mom says that MiMi loves to have her photos taken. I guess she is right. I think she is pretty, she is a nice color, sort of a greyish brown.

Unfortunately, something hurt MiMi. She has all sorts of cuts and scabs on her head. Mom says that they will probably heal, though. Mom has so many good pictures of MiMi, I just cant pick which ones to put here.

Bruno ~ Foster Kitty

Oh, I just dont know what Mom is thinking. She brought home Bruno, and he is staying in the basement. He seems to be a nice kitty, though he does cry alot. Mom thinks that he wants more company, but she also says that Bruno will not be able to play until he stops being mean. He bit Mom 4 times! Mom says that he is just not used to all the new things in the house. And Blackie just doesnt want anything to do with him.

I have been to visit him a many times, Mom says it is ok. Bruno is in a "cage", it is a metal thing that keeps Bruno in. He has a blanket, and food, and water, and even a box for him to...um, use, you know for a bathroom.

Mom says that Bruno will hopefully find a new "fur-ever home" and that he will have nice people to take care of him. I hope so to. He seems nice and all, but I think Mom has gone a bit overboard with this whole bringing new kities home.

~ Socks

Oh, Blackie said that he wanted to tell his story tonight, but he is still mad at Mom so he will not come down from the bathroom...maybe tomorrow.

Blackie was where?

Last night Mom went upstairs, she turned on the light and found...

...Blackie in the sink. She said that it was amazing where he could fit, Blackie being so big and the sink so small.

Duke - Foster Kitty

Well we have a 4th member of the clan. Duke is here but he is still a little stressed out, so Mom says that we cant play with him. When we stick our paws under the door, he gets really mad and tells us to get out.

Mom says that he will be ok, that it will take some time for Duke to get used to us. Mom was a little worried though, as Duke was upset with her as well. I gave Mom some nudges though, to let her know that she was doing a good job

Mom got a few pictures of Duke for us to share with everyone. The little girl human is the one who took most of the pictures. She is good too. Mom put them onto the computer thingy, so I thought that I would share them with you.

I hope that Duke wants to be friends, it seems very sad that he doesnt want to play. I tried to say Hi, but he just didnt want to talk with me. I will keep trying though Mom says that I can only talk to Duke under the door.

Well, we will have to see what happens with Duke, but Mom is hopeful that she can find a forever home for Duke. She also said that there might be another Foster-Kitty coming to visit. Moms says that she is going to help find some "homeless" kitties to find a good home. I hope so too. I know that I like having a forever home.

Foster Kitty

Yup, Mom did it again...she brought home another kitty. His name is Duke, and he is about 2 years old. He isnt very big, but Mom says once he gets used to us, he should get bigger. I just hope that he doesnt get as big as Blackie.

This one looks alot like me. It was almost like looking in a mirror. He is black with white feet and tummy, and white on his face. The only difference is that my white is on my upper lip, His white is on only one side of his face. He isnt very friendly. I went to say "hello" and he hissed at me!! I was only trying to be nice, but he didnt want anything to do with me. I have even tried to say "hello" under the door, but he just hissed and swatted at me.

Duke is up in the little girl humans room. Mom says that I cant go in there without a Mom. Mom also said that the little girl human would be taking care of Duke, and that she loves me and I am her Kitty. I am not sure I believe her, as she keeps bringing home kitties. But I guess we will have to see.

Mom said that she would take pictures of him, but her batteries died. I dont know what batteries are, but I hope that they dont get stinky.

The mouse is still on the loose, but I think I know where he is hiding...there is a hole under the sink and Mom says that he is probably in the floor. I dont know, he must be really little, but I will get him.

More tomorrow, hopefully Mom will get pictures of the Duke

"new" foster kitty?!?!

What, another one?

what happened to the last one? Blackie is still here, Mom says that he is ours now. I think that Blackie is actually hers, she certainly didnt ask me about this. And now she wants to bring another foster kitty in?!?

Well, here is what happened...

Mom has been watching way to much of that Animal Planet thing on TV. She watched as "poor little iddies" were mistreated, abused and living in horrible places. She has been saying that she thought that she wants to help another kitty. But Dad said that he didnt think it was a good idea.

Well, two days ago, Mom got an e-mail thingy, from the shelter that Blackie came from. There is a little boy kitty named Duke, and he has FIV, and he needs a home. They told Mom that he was saved from going to heaven. And Mom said that she would help. Mom says that Duke will not be adopted (she said to me that Duke was only visiting) and that he would have to find a new home. I am not sure I believe her, as Blackie was only visiting, and now he is ours, she says.

Mom went to the pet store though, and she is going to do "Adoption Fair" thing at the pet store with another HuMom who has 5 foster kitties, and a bunch of kittens!

Well, Mom is a nice HuMom, I hope that Duke will find a nice home.

On the Mouse front...we havent caught it yet. But I know it is in there. Mom opens all the cabinets for me to watch at night. I lay in front of the cabinets and keep an eye out. I havent caught the little critter yet...but it is only time

New Mouse!

Mom said that we have a new mouse, and she didnt even go to the pet store to get the nip smelling ones. This afternoon, she went to get a bag out of the drawer thingy, and then she said that we had a mouse! Mom opened up the cabinets and let Abby, Blackie and I explore. She even let us go into the basement! Mom says that there is extra catnip for us if we get the mousey!

Moms hurt

New house...new places to go

I love our new house. I enjoy going into the sunroom and watching all the goings on in the backyard. Mom has put the storm windows down, but she promised that she would put the screens down when it is nice. Mom put the pond in the backyard, we can now watch the fishes, too.

I have a new game. I used to try to get outside, and Mom would always try to get me. Well, now I try to get into the basement. Mom still tries to get me, but I dont think she gets as mad. It isnt like I am going outside, where she says that I could get sick. I kinda like the basement. There are lots of new smells and Mom keeps moving the big boxes, so there is always someplace to explore. Mom also said that with winter coming, that I might even be able to catch a mouse or two. She said that a mouse might come into the basement, and me being a good hunter, I might be able to catch it.

I think that I should probably catch it. Blackie would just play with it, and I think that Abby might eat it (She did have to hunt for most of her life). I would just bring it to Mom. She tells everyone about the bunny that I brought her. I didnt hurt the little bunny, and Mom seemed happy that I brought her such a nice present. She even put it in the little cage for a bit.

Oh well, Abby is sleeping on the couch and I am going to take another nap till Mom goes to sleep. Then Blackie, Abby and I play chase. We have a great time, running up and down the stairs, and around the house. Abby sometimes loses Blackie and I, and she sits and calls to us, but we always get her. Ops, Mom is coming back. Laters

Kitty Tree and Catster

Fur-st things fur-st.

Grand-Hu-Mom gave us (Abby, Blackie and I) and new CatTree for our new house. It is wonderful and I give it my seal of approval.
Mom couldnt help but put it together as soon as she could, and as usual, I oversaw the whole operation. It didnt take long and I was able to check it all out.

Blackie checked it out too, but he is so big he doesnt fit in the little house part, he does like to sleep on the top though. Abby checked it out too, but not while Mom was around. When Mom was here, Abby only went on the bottom...later though, I saw her sneak around to see what it was all about.

Now for Catster.

Mom found a new place for us to hang out. Abby, Blackie and I all have a little page just for us.

Click on our picture to see each of our pages.

Socks Seal of Approval

MC and Visa,

I just love the tree thingy that your HuMom gave to us! It is so very cool. I like to go to the very top and watch out the window. I can see so much from way up there. Blackie checked it out, but hasnt let Mom take a picture of him yet. Abby is napping on the very bottom, but I know how she loves to sleep up on the top of things, where she can watch everyone. It is only a matter of time till Mom catches her up there.

Well, we are really enjoying the new cat tree. Please tell your HuMom, thank you from all of us.

OUCH!

oh, I did not enjoy my trip to the Vet. She was nice and all, in the begining, but then she pulled out the needle thing. The first 2 didnt hurt, but then Mom said something about a "Micro-chip"...That didnt make me happy. IT HURT! Mom felt so bad though, she keeps coming to see if I am ok. I am tring to act mad...I dont want to let her off the hook quite yet.

Mom took Abby with me, to the Vet. It was nice to have her along and I wasnt so scared this time. I just snuggled up next to Abby and she purred. Abby is "Stressed out", the vet says. She is really worried about all the moving stuff, and the Vet says that she should be fine when the move thing is done. I just want to know were we are moving. Socks says it is a nice place with lots and lots of windows, but I will have to judge for myself.

Oh well, I guess that is all for now. Socks and Abby say "hi" to everyone.

Blackie and Abby are going to the vet...

I heard Mom this afternoon, when she called the vet people. Blackie needs to have his shots (I really hate shots!) and Mom says that Abby has a "bald spot" on her tummy. Abby doesnt seem to mind, but I think Mom just wants to be sure that everything is ok. I am sure that Abby or Blackie will report on their trip tomorrow.

Other than that, Mom says that we only have a week till we move to the new house. I am being brave, but I think that Blackie and Abby are alittle afraid.

So Quiet

The house is so quiet during the day now. The little humans are not here during the day, Mom says that they are in "school". I really like this school thing.

Mom has also been busy, she says that she is "moving". It is a little scary. Mom is moving all sorts of stuff, everything is going out and nothing is coming in, except for empty boxes. She took me one night to the "new house" for me to see and explore. I like the new smells and there is a room with lots and lots of windows. I liked to look out the windows, that was the best room. Mom says that we will be moving into the house in a week, I hope that Blackie and Abby like the "new house"

Funny Kitties

I was laying on the couch next to Mom this evening when she clicked on a new site. She was laughing and so I went to see what was up. She was reading Cats me if you can, it is very funny! I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did (and Mom did too)

~ Blackie

Mean...mean...mom

Mom heard something out on the porch yesturday night. I heard it too and went to see what it was too. She opened the door and looked outside, with me by her side. Then she turned out the outside light and shut the door....without me coming back inside. I sat for a while, watching the "night life", but I got bored of that and wanted back in. I cried for Mom, and scratched the door. Mom must have heard me because she opened the door almost immediately and let me in. I let her know how I felt though, she tried to pick me up to see if I was alright...and I made mad faces at her. I love her though, so I will be nice to her later.

Pins but no needles

Mom has been working on this stuff she calls "Jewelry" lately. When she is done, she takes pictures of the jewelry. She puts the jewelry onto this black thing she says is made of Styraphom and black felt, that helps her to take the pictures. She uses "pins" to hold the jewelry, to it. Well, I discovered one day, that pins are so interesting. I started taking the pins out and dropping them onto the floor. It was neat, they made a funny sound when I took them out. Well, as you might imagine, Mom was not to happy. She said that I cant take them out anymore. I have tried a couple times, to see if I can catch a pin out, but Mom is pretty careful these days. Oh well, I guess it is back to little mice filled with catnip.

sorry everyone

I am sorry that we havent been able post lately, but it has been purr-fectly nasty hot. Blackie has been trying to stay cool in the bathroom, the floor is nice in there. Abby has been hiding when the little human is about, and I just cant seem to find a cool place to stay that the little human doesnt bother me. Mom and I have a new "thing", she taps the top of the big humans computer chair, I hop up there and she pets and scritches. It is nice, and I know that if I get onto the back of the chair as she is passing, she will stop.

I tried to go out the other day, Mom was not happy at all. She now looks at me when I sit by the door and says "Not a chance, Socks." Oh well, maybe the little human will forget to shut the door.

Hot in here

Oh boy, I do love my nice soft fur, but it is a little warm sometimes. I am really happy that Mom keeps the "AC" on. or else it would get really warm. I have taken to sleeping on the bathroom floor, where it is coolest, during the day. I only get to sleep on the Cat tree at night when it isnt so warm, unfortunately, Abby wants to sleep there too.

Its Official

I am sorry that we have not written in a bit, it has been just a tad hectic around here.

We have decided to take responsibility for Blackie. I would call it "Adopted" but he is still going to be listed on Petfinder.com (second kitty down), but as far as we are concerned, he is ours. In September he will have been in the shelter for one year. Blackie has been with us for almost 8 months, and he has become one of us. So, for now, we have three kitties, and I will not be fostering any more cats. Maybe someday, when I have a larger place, I will be able to shelter more kitties. I will be working on the sidebars soon, and Blackie will join Abby and Socks, as one of the "Authors", so please look for his "posts".

New Pictures!

Thank you all, I woke up from my nap to find that Mom did get the site fixed really fast and it looks better than before. She added new Kitty graphics from here...

I think it looks alot better. Mom is smart about that kind of thing.

We had a good "holiday", I dont know what that is, but the kids were home today, so Blackie, Abby and I tried to keep out from underfoot. Mom was a little upset with me this morning though, I tried to go outside, but the little girl human caught me. I kept a close eye on that door. I am just trying to figure out how to sneak past.

It is really warm here tonight, I am so sleepy, I think it is time for a nap.

I touched Mom

Really...I did.

Mom was sitting on the couch and I was hungry, so I walked up to her and put my paw on her leg. I also made my little "squeeky" meow and she looked at me. I dont think that she expected me to do that.

Maybe, someday, I will let her touch me.

Sometimes...

...the Hu-Moms are alittle slow.

Last night, Mom said that she figured something out. I didnt know what she was talking about, but she told me...She said that when she wasnt feeling good, I come and check on her, sit in her lap or cuddle with her. She said that sometimes she didnt know that she was not going to feel bad, but I did, and was more 'luvvie' with her.

well, I thought to myself, what took you so long!?! I know when Mom is not feeling well, or isnt going to feel well, so I check on her often. I dont like when Mom isnt feeling good. I do love my Mom alot.

Its me, Blackie again

Thank you everyone. It is nice to know I have lots of friends. I wanted to write a post here to thank everyone for the support...Adoption fairs were definately not something that us kitties made up, thats for sure. It was toooooo stressful, and I am happy to be back at home where I can sleep in the sunshine.

Mom says that I will probably stay with her. I am a "foster-kitty" and Mom thought that I would have found a home by now. She wants to help more kitties, who need homes but she promised the other humans, that she would only have 2 kitties.

I hope that I get to stay too, I think Mom is going to see what happens.

Its a Big Bad World Out There

Yesterday, Mom brought the big crate that I came in, into the house. I just knew something was up. She usually puts me in the small crate...

Then today, she put me in the crate, put me in the van and Mom, eldest girl human and I went for a looooooong drive. We went to a place with lots and lots of noisy people...it was horrible. Mom sat with me but I just wanted to go home. Some people came and niced me, Mom talked with them about me, and then the people went away.

Mom says that we are looking for my "forever home" but I like living with Mom, Socks and Abby. This is a nice home with lots of food, water and love. There were some kittens there, they got alot of people to pick them up...

...they seemed to like all the attention. I think it was because they were kittens and didnt know any better. Would you believe that there were 5 kittens in that cage? They were so little, I wanted to say Hi, but they wouldnt let me.

After a little while, and a nap, Mom took me out of the big cage and we went home, I wouldnt go into the carrier. But Mom said that was ok, that she would carry me. We got back into the van and drove home...I went to the litterbox, got a drink and hid from everyone for a while. I am feeling better now though. I hope that Mom doesnt take me to another place like that

Lost Tooth

Mom discovered yesterday that I had lost one of my long pointy teeth. She was all upset that she hadnt noticed before that it wasnt there. So, she poked and made me show her my teeth a few times last night. And then today she brought me to the vet people again. She said that it wasnt a special trip just a "follow up". (I dont know if I understand "follow up"...I follow her to the kitchen at dinner time and I follow her up on the couch and sit by her. I follow Socks all the time. Oh well.) Oh well, we went to the vet people and they checked in my mouth and the lady there told Mom that my tooth had been missing for a long time. I could have told her that. I dont remember exactly when I lost my tooth, but it wasnt in the last couple of months that I have been living here.

Mom seemed to be relieved a bit. The vet lady says that I have an "acne" on my chin though, and Mom has to wash it every day and put some medicine on it. I am not sure I like the sound of this. Mom has a sneaky way of closing all the doors to the under the bed places and I have to hide in the "cat tree", where she can get me. I am going to have to find a new hiding place.

Well, I have to go, before Mom gets done making dinner for the little humans.

Laters,

Welcome!

In honor of this blogs first day on BlogAzoo...I want to say hello to everyone visiting. Abby, Blackie and I are happy that you stopped by, we hope that you enjoy your visit here.

A little about us...My name is Socks, I am a properly dressed Tux kitty. My Hu-Mom is wonderful and takes really good care of us. The Vet people told my Hu-Mom that I was FIV+, and I am now an inside kitty, though I would love to go outside and lay in the green grass and watch the birds.

Abby is a very shy kitty, but she loves to hang out with Blackie and I. Abby is also FIV+ but she is not sick or anything. She is warming to our Hu-Mom slowly, and is still not sure that she wants to get scritches.

Blackie is what our Hu-Mom calls a Foster-Kitty. Blackie to, is FIV+, Mom says that we are taking care of Blackie till a good forever home can be found for him. Mom is very concerned about kitties that have to live in cages, and would really love for all kitties could have a good home. Mom encourages those who can (or want to) to visit

Well, that pretty much covers everything. I hope that you have a nice visit, play with some fake mice, eat some catnip but please dont use the furnature as a scratching post (Mom really doesnt like that)

Mom had the flu the other day. She was really sick and slept alot. I made sure that she was ok. everytime she went to the 'bathroom', I went with her, and when she went to lay down in bed I would snuggle up and make sure she was ok. OUCH!

My Hu-Mom took me to the place she called the "pet store". I didnt know what to expect, but because she put me in the sleeping bag and in the "Carrier", I knew it couldnt be good. She petted me and told me she loved me and that I was a good kitty.

When it was our turn, a lady took some buzzing things and then some wet stuff and finally an ouchy. Mom said that I was getting a "Micro-Chip". I dont know what that is but I am pretty sure I dont like it. Mom said that she was worried that if I went outside, I might get lost. She said that if someone found me and didnt know where I lived, they might not be able to bring me home.

The lady who gave me the micro-chip didnt seem to understand why mom wanted me to get it, as I don't go outside. Mom said that the door was always opening with the little humans going inside and outside and she was worried that I might escape some day. I think it might have had something to do with the loud noise that Mom made (Two posts down). She started talking about the Micro-chip thing after that.

It doesnt hurt anymore, and Mom said that I was a brave girl, and I didnt even move a muscle when they put the micro-chip in. She even bought me 3 of my favorite little toy mice. I just hid in my sleeping bag, and prayed that mom would bring me home so I could hide under the bed.

Plea for homeless kitties

(picture links to more photos of Blackie, please feel free to drop by and take a look)

This past week marked Blackies 3rd month in our home. Like so many other homeless and foster kitties, he is a wonderful cat that deserves a good home. I know that the 'friends' that Socks, Abby and Blackie have, through this blog and through our real life, know of the needs of my favorite furry foster friend and other homeless kitties. I can only hope that someone new who is visiting for the first time will see this site, and will consider adding Blackie, or another wonderful kitty to their home.

Normally Socks, Abby or Blackie add to the posts here, but today, their Hu-Mom is posting. It makes me so sad to visit sites like Pet Finder and Mary's Kitty Korner (where Blackie is prominently listed) and see so many loving, adorable, beautiful, purring, sweet and (did I say) Loving? kitties.

Please, Please, Please consider making a homeless kitty an addition to your home. You will never regret it, they have so much love to give.

Whats that Noise!?!?!

Mom did something awful today. She was cooking the human food and it got a little smoky in the house. She opened the window and turned up the fan that is on the ceiling. But after a few minutes...This horrid noise started!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried to go into the bedroom, but the noise just followed me. Mom picked me up and put me in the bathroom, the noise wasnt so bad in there. She also tried to put Blackie in the bathroom too, but he was to scared. Abby just stayed under the bed. After a few minutes the noise stopped, but I was not sure where it came from so I didnt want to venture out right away. Blackie didnt either. And Mom held Abby for a while so that she was calmed down.

I hope that Mom doesnt make the noise come back, it was really scary

the thing under the rug

My Hu-Mom loves to play this game with us called "the thing under the rug". It is really her arm, but it is fun, we get to attack the carpet, with all of our claws and teeth...and she doesnt mind!

Anyways, last night, Mom was playing "the thing under the rug", when the little boy human woke up and asked her to bring him something called a tissue. So, while Mom was away, I decided to to try to be the "thing under the rug". It was fun!

When Mom came back...she couldnt see me, but I think she guessed that I was under the rug, because she got the stringy thing out and started wiggling it by the edge of the rug. So I did my best to get it!

As you can see, Socks and Abby came to see what was going on. Abby played with my tail for a few, while Socks played with the stringy thing and even jumped om me....It was fun!

For a few minutes, I layed perfectly still...Mom pretended that she couldnt see me...I just waited to find something to pounce on...which ended up being Socks. I dont think he liked it though. After all that fun, I took a break and let Socks play...

I just love playing "thing under the rug", I hope that whoever adopts me likes to play "thing under the rug" too.
