Moms away...the cats will play

Mom went on a trip yesturday. I was concerned when she left, because she had this big thing that she put clothes in and she took her pillow! Mom never goes anywhere for a long time without her pillow. She told me to be nice to Abby...I am being good, she would be so happy with me. I even let Abby sleep on the little girls bed! I miss Mom though. She always makes my food and pets me and plays with me. I hope that she comes back soon...but they keep saying that someone is really sick and Mom needs to help take care of him. Oh well...I just want Mom back.

The Cage

One day Mom saw me checking out this cage. I was new in the house and I was still exploring everything. She put the cage on the floor and opened the little door. So I sniffed around a little bit and then I decided to hop right in.

There wasn't a whole lot of room in the little cage, but it smelled so interesting. I checked it out, and then hopped out again. I haven't felt like checking out cages since. Stuart is in a littler cage and I dont think Mom will want me to go into his cage. She did make a space for me to sit next to Stuarts cage though, and we talk and play.

Helping Out

One of the little humans brought home a friend one day, a while ago. She said that its name was 'Dizzy'. Dizzy was really fuzzy. Mom wouldn't let me play with the fuzzy Dizzy. But I was allowed to sit outside the gage and keep an eye on it.

So while watching the fuzzy Dizzy one time, I climbed up ontop of the box. Well, it was climbing up the tube thing so I wanted to see if I could catch it. Mom laughed and said that I was helping out with the Hamster sitting. She took my picture.

A few days later the little humans friend came to get the fuzzy Dizzy. I heard the little human say that her friend has a picture of me helping out with the hamster sitting. I like helping out, I hope that the fuzzy Dizzy comes to visit again so I can hamster sit.

Um, Mom???

I am not sure what Mom was thinking today, she brought home another cat!

She keeps calling her Abby, I think that is her name. We met, sniffed, and I am reserving judgement for now. She seems alright, but she seems a little shy to me. Mom spent some of the afternoon trying to get 'abby' out from under her bed. The rest of the day she played with me. She kept telling me that she loves me...I think I believe her, but I am being just a little stand-offish, just to make her feel guilty. Anyways, here is 'abby'...

How to give a pill to a cat

Saw this while blogging, and thought that you humans might need a little help

(very funny...a must read)

Sir Ryder of Cupp: How to Give a Pill to a Cat

My Pet

Mom has another critter she lets me play with. His name is Stuart. He looks like a little puffball.

Stuart was here before I chose to live here. I like to sit at his cage and we play together. Mom wont let me really play with Stuart, she always keeps him in the cage or puts him in the little ball. I like stuart alot, but I think Mom is worried that I might try to hurt him.

CAT RULES: Rules for Cats to Live By

Borrowed From Cat Music Blog

BATHROOMS:
Always accompany guests to the bathroom. It is not necessary to do anything. Just sit and stare.

DOORS:
Do not allow any closed doors in any room. To get door open, stand on hind legs and hammer with forepaws.

Once door is opened, it is not necessary to use it. After you have ordered an "outside" door opened, stand halfway in and out and think about several things. This is particularly important during very cold weather, rain, snow, or mosquito season.

CHAIRS AND RUGS:
If you have to throw up, get to a chair quickly. If you cannot manage in time, get to an Oriental rug. If there is no Oriental rug, shag is good.

When throwing up on the carpet, make sure you back up so it is as long as a humans bare foot.

HAMPERING:
If one of your humans is engaged in some activity and the other is idle, stay with the busy one. This is called "helping," otherwise known as "hampering."

Following are the rules for "hampering:"

1) When supervising cooking, sit just behind the left heel of the cook. You cannot be seen and thereby stand a better chance of being stepped on and then picked up and comforted.

2) For book readers, get in close under the chin, between eyes and book, unless you can lie across the book itself.

3) For paperwork, lie on the work in the most appropriate manner so as to obscure as much of the work as possible or at least. Pretend to doze, but every so often reach out and slap the pencil or pen.

4) When a human is holding the newspaper in front of him/her, be sure to jump on the back of the paper. Humans love to jump.

5) When human is working at computer, jump up on desk, walk across keyboard, bat at mouse pointer on screen and then lay in human's lap across arms, hampering typing in progress.

WALKING:
As often as possible, dart quickly and as close as possible in front of the human, especially: on stairs, when they have something in their arms, in the dark, and when
they first get up in the morning. This will help their coordination skills.

BEDTIME:
Always sleep on the human at night so he/she cannot move around.

LITTER BOX:
When using the litter box, be sure to kick as much litter out of the box as possible. Humans love the feel of kitty litter between their toes.

HIDING:
Every now and then, hide in a place where the humans cannot find you. Do not come out for three to four hours under any circumstances.

This will cause the humans to panic (which they love) thinking that you have run away or are lost. Once you do come out, the humans will cover you with love and kisses
and you will probably get a treat.

ONE LAST THOUGHT:
Whenever possible, get close to a human, especially their face, turn around, and present your butt to them.

Humans love this, so do it often.
And don't forget guests!

My Castle

ah, Mom loves me! I know she does. She plays with me at night, she brushes me, and she made me my castle! So, one day a little while ago, Mom started bringing some strange smelling stuff into the house. First, there was some stuff that looked like the floor, then there were some boxes that smelled like bananas, and finally some wood. First Mom put some of the floor stuff on the boxes. I tried to help out as much as I could.

That is me, checking out the inside of the boxes.

and here is me helping out with the measuring thing.

So, first she put the floor stuff, onto the inside and the outside of the boxes. I had lots of fun inside the box. I could make feet all over the place. And the top, well, that was the best place to take a nap!

It was a little bit till Mom worked on the 'castle' again. But when she did, she really made alot of noise with the hammer thing. First she made some 'steps'.

I watched, but Mom wouldn't let me get to close. She said that I could get hurt.

and more steps...

and finally she put the box with the floor stuff on top! Wow, this was the greatest. I really loved it!

The little human decided that he had to have his picture taken too. It took another day, but Mom put some carpet onto the steps, and now I have the most awesome castle. Mom calls the top my Loft. The little humans arnt supposed to bother me while I am sleeping there, but they do sometimes. The Loft sits in the sun in the afternoon, and I love to take my naps there.

My Mom is Great!

Napping

It was a great day for napping. I slept in the sunshine on my Loft, as my mom calls it. It was nice and quiet at home today, my Humans went out for the whole morning. They usually do this, and I just love the quiet. During the week, Mom brings the little humans to this place called school. I dont think I like the sounds of school. Anyways, Mom comes back home and goes to sleep. I dont sleep on her bed, though I think she would like me to. She put a blanket infront of the window though and I do like to sleep there. The Catnip is there too!

Now that it is night time, it is time to play. I dont think Mom likes to play at night. I tried to play during the day, but I got so sleepy, I just couldnt stay awake.

OK, mom is coming back, so it is time for me to cuddle up and make feet.

Hi

Hi, My name is Socks, I am a well dressed Tux kitty, or so my Mom says. My human left the computer on and I thought that I would start this thing she calls a blog. I saw another Kitty had one and was able to tell his story, I thought that I would tell mine to. My Mom says that I can be a pain, I guess I will just put some of the stories of things that I do here and let you decide.

Well, Mom is coming back, so I had better get off the computer thing. I will post more later.

Laters!
